A Productive Memorial Day Weekend!

Unfortunately, Heath has to work on Memorial Day but we certainly made the most of the weekend. Lots of projects around the house got done and today we took the day to spoil Peyton! He got to go swimming in the lake and for a nice long walk! And Heath and I realized that maybe the reason we've been having such a hard time picking a new name for our little boy is because we weren't making it a family decision. So . . . we decided to get Peyton involved and wrote our two favorite names on tennis balls and we decided which ever one Peyton brought back to us was the right name (I'm not quite sure how I'm going to explain to our son that our dog picked his name but hopefully he'll understand)! We decided to do best two out of three and Peyton did his best to keep it equal making it 1 to 1. And on the third throw he thought and thought and finally worked SO hard to bring back BOTH tennis balls!! (not sure you can see them both in his mouth from this picture but they're there!) He finally did break the tie but you'll have to wait until the little guy is here to learn what his name is going to be!!!

Whenever I See Your Smiling Face

Heath and I have made some GREAT progress on the nursery! Thanks to my college roommate for her inspiration and beautiful handmade quilt. We decided to go with lots of colors and lots of polka dots.

"Whenever I See Your Smiling Face" was the James Taylor song Heath and I danced to at our wedding. It's hard to believe that was five years ago- Look how far we've come :) I know on that day we both hoped one day in the future we'd be welcoming a little one in to the world - it's hard to believe that moment is almost here! We've had so many happy memories to smile about over the last five years. And we thought this would be the perfect inspiration for baby e's nursery (note we are still without a name for this baby!!!!). Hopefully we'll see him in here smiling a lot more than crying!

There is still some work to be done in the nursery but we feel pretty good about how far along we are. AND we just ordered the glider this weekend (thanks to the generosity of Heath's parents). Let's pray it doesn't take as long as the other nursery furniture to come in!!

34 weeks

Only six weeks to go (roughly)! I'm trying to remind myself that a due date is only an estimate - but I found the cutest 4th of July outfit for our little guy so hopefully he'll at least be here before then! We had our last "official" preparation class last night with a tour of the hospital where I'll deliver. Heath and I both admitted it was a little intimidating actually seeing the room and all the equipment in the hospital - although it was also pretty humorous to watch a dozen pregnant ladies and their husbands waddeling around the mother-baby unit checking everything out.

Sneak Peek

Finally, after 16 weeks our nursery furniture has come in! Heath went all the way to Richmond to pick it up on Saturday (not surprisingly he got a round of golf in with his buddy, Kamal, while he was there) OF COURSE I made him put it together right when he got home and then rearrange it, and rearrange it, and rearrange it until we got it exactly where we wanted it. Ironically, the mobile was the hardest part to put together!

Since Saturday, Heath and I have been working on doing some of the additional decorating including hanging the valence, making the crib skirt, putting up pictures frames and wall art, trying to figure out where Baby's E's clothes will go (after washing them) and where to put the diapers for easy access. But . . . since it's not quite ready for the big reveal yet we figured we'd just give you a sneak peak at the combo changing table/dresser!

I definitely have felt an overwhelming since to "nest" the last few weeks (which includes washing the curtains and cleaning the baseboards which I'm not sure I've done since we moved in) so stayed tuned for more SOON because I'm sure Heath would tell you- every day he's got at least a half a dozen things on his to-do list.

Happy Mothers Day . . . to me?

What a surreal feeling to be celebrating my first Mothers Day. Admittedly, I'm not sure I've truly paid my dues to deserve to be honored on the holiday but it certainly was fun to receive some cards (including a very very special card from Heath) and a keepsake angel and a massage/pedicure!

It's a little unbelievable to imagine what celebrating Mothers Day this time next year will be like!
I know I've certainly given a lot of thought to what type of mom I want to be, with above all making sure Baby E always feels loves and supported. I'm pretty lucky to have a great role model to follow. Happy Mothers Day, Mom! (And it's nice to know I've got a great mother-in-law who can give me some additional advice when it comes to figuring out how to raise boys)!
