Sleepy

There's not doubt Asher is an amazing kid. He's always happy, loves to play, is a great eater and growing just like he should. He's perfect, right?! The ONLY thing Heath and I might wish were a little different were his sleeping habits :) Between Thanksgiving and Christmas sleep was pretty limited and we didn't know how we were going to survive! After Christmas, we got very serious about a strict bedtime routine: dinner at 6:30, bathtime, jammies and "lo-lo", bedtime stories, nursing and bed. Whether it was him getting a little older or the bedtime routine Asher started to figure it out and would fall asleep pretty easily! Of course still waking up once between 2-4:00 a.m. for a night-time feeding. At nine months old we've eased up a little on the bedtime routine and Heath can read the stories or give him a bottle and he's made it through the night twice without waking up - once again, "any day now" hopefully he'll be sleeping through the night every night!
It seems his sleep habits through the day are just as tricky to figure out! At home he takes a great 1 1/2 or 2 hour nap in the morning (if we're lucky) at daycare he seems much more interested in being awake and playing! Maybe it's "Sleepy the Giraffe" who makes the difference?!?

It's Not Easy Being Green

Asher celebrated his first St. Patrick's Day and he made sure to wear his green so no one at daycare would pinch him! He also invited his buddy, Brooks, over for dinner. They had a great time playing together - of course it was impossible to get a picture of the two of them looking at the camera at the same time!

Wearing Many Hats

Asher's Aunt Heather and Papaw love hats and have given Asher several to choose from. Here he is trying them out!

Two steps backwards, One step forward?

For the last month we've been saying "Any day now" when talking about Asher crawling. Seems he's done just about everything else but crawl! He can get up on his hands and knees, he can rev up his engine and rock back and forth, and he's REALLY good at using his hands to scoot/crawl backwards and get pretty much wherever he wants to go. So now he's nine months old and still not quite there, but any day now! Unfortunately, crawling backwards doesn't allow you to see where you're going and you get stuck more often!

1st Haircut - Sort of

Asher was born with a lot of hair so by 8 months we felt like he probably needed a hair cut. Asher clearly wasn't quite so sure. We got ourselves already to do it but then I chickened out a little. Asher did get his "wings" cut but there was barely enough to save to put in a baby book! Oh well, maybe in a few more months when his hair is covering his eyes he'll get the real thing!

Goodness. It has been a really long time since I've posted! Oops. In the beginning of March Asher and I made the journey back to Indiana, just the two of us, for Jennifer's baby shower. Asher did great! Unfortunately, I somehow forgot to get a picture of him in the car. He played with his toys and slept almost the entire way. Probably the most exciting part of the trip was changing his diaper at McDonald's - we ended up having to change more than just his diaper!
In addition to getting to "shower" his aunt, Asher got to help his grandma celebrate her birthday, and meet his new cousin Aaron. It was a little crazy running around NeeNeee and Papaw's with three boys under the age of 3 - I can only imagine what it will be like this summer with one more baby thrown in the mix!
