Asher had his first big overnight trip this weekend (aside from visits to Indiana to visit family). We visited the Richmond Zoo and Children's museum. It's hard to count all the firsts he had including seeing multiple animals live that he's only seen in books, riding down a slide, sleeping in a hotel room, and going swimming. Hmmmm, apparently he has also learned how to scream. And boy can he use his lungs. We all came home from the weekend thoroughly exhausted. And while Asher won't remember a moment of the weekend we'll have the pictures to show him we feel like a torch has been passed! Thank you mom and dad for every trip and activity you exposed us to - now we truly know how much work they are!

Richmond

New Year's Resolution
Puffs
Asher tried his first finger foods this week at 7 months old. While he wasn't quite sure about them at firs the decided "puffs" were pretty good! We've noticed he can get them in to his mouth pretty easily with his left but needs his left hand to guide his right hand in to him mouth, hmmm??!
It's amazing how fast Asher is growing and what all he has learned in the last 7 months! He's still working on crawling but "tummy time" isn't terrible anymore and he's working on crawling - at least moving backwards a little!

15 years
It's been a while since I've posted for many reasons! Life is crazy with a 6-month-old, yup, we've got a six month old!!! It's crazy to believe Asher is that old. Although, whenever we go out no one can believe he's only that old. Apparently Asher is a big boy! We got a great report at his well-baby check up and is in the 75-90% of height and weight.
This weekend we were able to celebrate the 15 year anniversary of Heath's bone marrow transplant. Heath's parents came down for a quick but fun-filled weekend topped off with an excellent dinner!

Colts Christmas
Christmas Gift
It was amazing to see how much Asher changed over the holidays. It was like he knew that while visiting his family in Indiana it'd be good to impress them. Prior to Christmas Asher had begin sitting up just a little but he was VERY unstable. But while we were away something clicked and now it's no problem. He LOVES sitting up being able to play with more toys and see what's going on!
Asher's a very talkative baby and babbles all the time but there was definitely a very distinctive "Da Da" that came out! Now he says it all the time!
Good Food, Good Friends
Living in VA, when we make a trip to IN it feels like a whirlwind of visits with family and friends. It's hard to see everyone we want to see! But we were lucky enough to celebrate the holiday with a great high school friend while checking out a fun new restaurant in Indy. It was also a great opportunity to let NeeNee and Papaw babysit while Heath and I got some much appreciated time out! Asher and I also enjoyed brunch with several college friends on New Year's Day morning!

Santa!
Asher got to meet Santa this morning during his daycare's Breakfast with Santa! They've tried to make the whole week fun for the kiddos and yesterday was jammies day. Asher wasn't quite sure what to think of Santa but didn't seem to mind sitting on his lap and while he can't talk yet her certainly looked like he knew he was suppose to tell him what he wanted for Christmas!

Rice Cereal and Oatmeal . . . Yummmy!
At Asher's 4 month appointment the doctor said it would be alright to let Asher starting trying some solid foods, but then he had his first ear infection and we were off to Indiana for Thanksgiving. So finally, at closer to five months old, Asher got the chance to try out a spoon! He started with just a teaspoon of rice cereal and loved it! Of course it made a pretty big mess but he is really getting the hang of it now and we see butternut squash in his future soon (Heath and I are just glad he's the one eating it and not us, yuck!).
Getting Ready for Christmas!
Since we've been back in VA from our whirlwind trip to Indiana for Thanksgiving we've been hard at work getting ready for Christmas. We spent an entire day baking goodies for the neighbors, we went to Mistletoe Market and had our picture taken with The Grinch and we've spent lots of time shopping and wrapping presents!
Buddies
Asher met his cousin Sam when he was only 5weeks old but at 5 months Asher realized just how good of buddies he and his cousin are going to be. They had a great time sharing toys, decorating Christmas cookies and listening to stories together! Boy, they sure are going to get in to a lot of trouble together when they get older!
Blessed
1st Thanksgiving
