Happy Birthday - early!

Asher enjoyed spending his friend Olivia's second birthday at a pool party. I think his favorite party of the party was the . . . watermelon!!

I love you daddy. Happy Father's Day!!

Poor Peyton

Peyton has definitely had to make some sacrifices since Asher arrived. He sadly isn't the baby in the house anymore. All the toys are no longer his and most belong to Asher. And while he often gets yelled at when he takes a toy from the baby, when Asher takes one of Peyton's toy it usually just causes us to laugh. However, with all of the negatives I think Peyton is pretty happy Asher is around. His meals have certainly gotten supplemented with regular table scraps (even if it's baby puffs and pureed sweet potatoes)!

Walking?!?! Almost

At 11 1/2 months Asher isn't walking yet, but he certainly is getting close. He loves to cruise around the couch and he's got toy he pushes around everywhere. One of his favorite places to hang out is at the end of the stairway. He crawls over to it and then pulls up on the banister. He hasn't figured out how to climb the stairs but I'm sure that'll be soon too.

Yumm!

Asher started eating some solid foods just after six months but being a first-time mom I was very cautious about what and how much he could have. Probably a little over paranoid about him chocking on something or develping an allergice reaction to something Asher has had more steamed carrots and pureed sweet potatos than he can stand. Over the last week or so his palate has expanded drastically. He has found some new favorite foods including grilled cheese, chicken nuggets, chicken quesadillas and chicken noodle soup. Of course his favorite way to eat still has to be . . . take a bite, throw a bite, take a bite, throw a bite. . .. over and over and over again. While it drives Heath and I crazy we found somebody that likes this new game - Peyton!

When we went to the strawberry patch Asher even got to try his first strawberry. I think he liked it! (note pre-goopy eye procedure!)

Darn eye boogies!

Asher had a big week last week. On Thursday he had to go to the hospital to get his tear ducts unblocked. Unfortunately, they were only able to fix one so it looks like there might be another hospital gown in Asher's future. Overall, he was great. I think his favorite part had to be getting to ride around the hospital hallways in a car his daddy pushed. That, and the non-watered down juice! Even though a minor procedure, sitting in the hospital room waiting for them to bring our baby back to us was much harder than I imagined it would be. Not looking forward to having to go down this road again but very happy to have helpful doctors and a very healthy kid.

NeeNee's Visit

Reunion is a very big week at work for me and having to work 12-14 hours days we thought it would be really helpful if NeeNee came and helped. We were able to enjoy sometime together and went to the zoo and strawberry patch. Then NeeNee just enjoyed hanging out with Asher and going on walks and stopping by my work for lunch. I think they got along pretty well except Asher decided he wasn't interested in taking a bottle from NeeNee.

Man scaping

I'm not ashamed to admit Asher is definitely a mama's boy but every day he is learning more and more from his daddy. He got a quick shaving lesson followed but a real haircut. Heath and I went round and round on how much to cut off but ultimately I think he did a pretty good job!

Playin'

Asher has really gotten in to playing as he gets older. His favorite is hitting two things together, any two things!!! Or banging things on the ground. But now that he's learned how to crawl he also enjoys pulling up on things or just getting on his news. Yesterday he even got to enjoy the swings at the park and going swimming at the Y.

Asher's 1st Easter!

While Asher didn't exactly know what was going on for his first Easter he played the part very well. He let us get him all dressed up in his sweater vest and seersucker shorts and did great a church. Unfortunately, the easter basket was a bit of bust and Asher preferred camping out at his favorite spot (standing up by the baskets in our family room) over checking out what was in his easter basket. Although I'm sure the bubbles, books and puzzle in his basket will grow on him! He did LOVE the eggs in his basket and while he as too little to know there were M&Ms inside to eat he certainly enjoyed shaking them! Guess that just means more candy for mom and dad.

"Uhh, Am I in Trouble?"

I have a feeling I am going to see this look from Asher a lot over the next 18 years. He just looks like he's thinking, "Uh, Am I in trouble??" Of course who could get mad at a face like that! Asher certainly enjoyed pulling out every single on of mommy's cookbooks and checking them out. He loves to squeeze paper through his fingers and crunch it up.

Sacked

Asher had a BIG playdate with two of his buddies, Brooks and Asa, and he was exhausted when it was over. He had trouble napping during the day but as soon as they left he was out!
It appears he's pretty fond of mommy and daddy's new mattress and pillows as well!

Splish, Splash I Was Taking a Bath

This is going to be one of those pictures Asher will be so embarrassed we took and we'll have to make sure we whip out on his first date. Heath was in charge of Asher's bath night tonight and as I walked past the bathroom this is what I saw. It was too cute I had to get a picture of it. Asher has pretty much preferred to stand up over sit since he was able to do so but now he's even starting to find that standing up in the bathtub is more fun, which can be a little challenging. I suppose Heath found a pretty creative way of working with him!

"Somebody Step On A Duck?!"

Heath's mom, brother and nephew made it down to VA for a quick trip this past weekend. The boys (minus Asher) spent the majority of the weekend golfing, watching golf, or talking about golf. Caddyshack was quoted throughout the weekend. While I know Asher will be joining them soon out on the green, for now his grandma and I enjoyed taking him shopping and to Romp and Roll. Of course we all enjoyed dinner out as well. . . At least I think we did!??! Asher was just a little mesmerized by the chef at the Japanese steakhouse.

Chopped

Asher had his first real haircut last week. Our neighbor's mother offered to cut his hair and we definitely took her up on it since neither Heath or I wanted to do it! Asher did a great job and wasn't scared at all - just a little wiggly!
