It's a . . .

Today was a big day at the Ewing house! We found out we're having a boy (for sure)! We kind of thought we were having a boy but the ultrasound confirmed it. It also confirmed a healthy, very "average" boy being in the 50% on weight and all of his other measurements. Right now he's a little over one pound and about 10 inches.
Heath and I each picked out one outfit for our son -can you tell who picked out what? Of course, Heath is already planning on his son being a golfer (if you can see the little clubs on the overalls) and I intend for my son to be the best (and cutest) dressed kid on the block - and I guess if he picks up his dad's fashion sense and athleticism he'll easily be both!

Valentine's Day

I'll admit since Heath and I have moved to VA I have jumped on the Vera Bradley bandwagon. And why not, it's everywhere down here, especially at Sweet Briar. We've kind of fell in to a tradition that Heath would buy me a Vera Bradley bag for Valentine's day - the last two years being very useful totes! Well, like everything in our life, the Valentine's Day presents are changing too! This year my present was this beautiful Vera Bradley diaper bag! While a bit of a splurge it's a great memory too, and we just got the case of diapers we ordered online so we're slowly getting prepared. (Heath of course got a sports massage for his Valentine's Day present!)

My little pea pod

March is going to be a GREAT month! Over Sweet Briar's spring break Heath and I will be making the 10 hour trek to Indiana! It'll be well worth it as all the plans are in the works to see several family and friends (and maybe my sister's new house depending on how things go!) Last time we were in town our little pea in a pod was only 3/4 of an inch, by mid-March Baby Ewing should be 10+ inches! And you'll clearly be able to see the difference in my baby bump!
I am very blessed that my sisters, sister-in-law and best friend from college are all throwing showers to help us celebrate this exciting time in our lives. Can't wait to see everyone and soak up LOTS of great baby advice!

The Nursery - Part One

It may not look like much but here's the beginnings of the nursery. We painted the room before we even knew we were pregnant but we love the color green and so we've decided to keep it! Honestly, I think this is the only room in our house that we only got one paint sample for and stuck with it - must be a sign!
Heath worked his magic and put up the crown molding recently and since it could be another 2-6 weeks before we get our nursery furniture and because I'm such a planner Heath cut out paper to help us try and arrange the room. It's going to be a little tricky because the room is a little small, oh, and I just learned from already moms that hanging big pictures above the crib is probably NOT a good idea!!
And in the corner we've got Baby Ewing's giraffe swing - a generous present from Grandma and Grandpa Ewing! Can't wait to try it out!

First Sewing Project for Baby Ewing

This is my first sewing project for Baby Ewing. There are so many fun fabrics out there I figured I could make my own Boppie and make it whatever color and design I wanted! I've been enjoying sewing every Thursday night with my two pregnant neighbors and we're on to baby booties right now. Too Cute!
Clearly Peyton seems to enjoy the Boppie. Unfortunately I think Peyton believes that he and Baby Ewing will be sharing quite a few things. I have a feeling Heath and I need to start doing research now on how harmful lovies, pacifiers, and diapers are for dogs!

Turning the BIG 3-0!

Heath and I started this blog because we knew this would be a year of BIG moments for us! Of course the biggest being bringing a new life into this world. Another big event (at least I think) is turning 30 -several of our friends are turning 30 this year as well. Here are two pictures from our neighbor's 30th birthday party - 80s themed of course. Ironically, 4 of the 6 women in that picture are pregnant! Wyndhurst Drive has definitely become pregnant lady corner. Heath and I truly feel blessed to have such good friends and neighbors to share and celebrate all of these big moments with.

Halfway there

Another update at 20 weeks and you can definitely see the baby bump! We just had a doctor's appointment last Thursday and the baby's heartbeat is healthy at 150-155 beats per minute, and we got to schedule our 22 week ultrasound for Feb. 25th!

Unfortunately, this picture also seems to document that much of my pregnancy weight has gone to my face and my hair straightener died two days ago!

Worn Out

We know at least one Peyton that was definitely worn out after the game! He was such a good boy, though, and didn't attempt to sneak any of the Superbowl snacks (although he did his fair share of begging). We think Peyton enjoyed wearing his Jersey although he didn't quite fit into his XL shirt and we had to cut the sleeves out!

You can't win them all

While we unfortunately can't claim a Colts victory we can certainly say we had a good time watching the Superbowl with several of our friends. Looks like we'll just have to pack up all of your Colts stuff for next year. We still love you Peyton!
